The EXOGEN Ultrasound Bone Healing System is an ultrasound device that you apply directly to skin at the fracture site for 20 minutes a day. The system emits a low-intensity pulsed ultrasound signal which has been shown in laboratory tests to stimulate genes and growth factors that are critical to your body’s natural bone healing process. EXOGEN may be used whether your broken bone is in a cast or not. It is FDA-approved to treat fractures that show no signs of healing (non-unions) as well as appropriate fresh (recent) fractures. When used on certain fresh fractures, EXOGEN speeds healing by 38. When applied to fractures that have not healed, it has succeeded in 86% of cases.
