If oils liniments or lotions have been used in the patient's care alcohol will be required to remove residue. When alcohol is used allow site to dry completely. Use a brisk dry rub with a gauze pad to remove dead skin cells and remove any residue.KLIP ApplicationCheck the KLIP sensing plate to assure plate is free from any dry film. If gel or paste is preferred apply directly to KLIP sensing plate and secure KLIP to prepared electrode site. If gel pad is used apply pad directly to patient then secure KLIP with sensing plate directly on the gel pad. Check for proper KLIP tension. If easily disturbed select another site by moving the KLIP towards the patient's torso. A secure KLIP will minimize potential motion artifact.Cable AttachmentIf pin connection is to be used insert pin leadwires into locking post and secure. If the snap connectors are to be used attach the grabber style leadwire to the KLIP.Note:Cream or gel build-up under the sensing plate can be cleaned by unscrewing the snap or combining connector and removing the sensing plate.
